Consultation description

The proposals in this consultation, which form part of a package of measures to simplify consumer law, seek to:

  • simplify enforcement officers’ investigatory powers into a single set
  • remove barriers to Trading Standards operating efficiently

The proposals also aim to reduce burdens on business, by requiring businesses to be given reasonable notice of officers’ routine visits unless there are good reasons for them to be unannounced.
