Hallmarking Act 1973
The Hallmarking Act 1973 streamlined many separate pieces of legislation, some of them dating back centuries, to create one comprehensive Act clearly defining hallmarking requirements in the UK. The Act has been amended several times since 1973, most recently to include the requirement for articles of Palladium weighing over 1 gram to be hallmarked.
