Delivering the NMS
The NMO will deliver our strategy through the NMS, the UK's national infrastructure of measurement laboratories. It delivers world-class measurement science and technology, and provide traceable and increasingly accurate standards of measurement for use in trade, industry, academia and government.
The NMS portfolio is a combination of Knowledge Base, Cross-Cutting, Underpinning and Regulatory Programmes to develop existing capabilities and facilities within the UK National Measurement Institutes (NMIs). They address public, legislative and industrial need, promote industrial innovation as well as improved measurement techniques and methods.
At the core of the NMS are the Measurement Standards, on which all other measurements rely. The NMS provides leadership in measurement nationally and internationally, creating the right framework for growth and innovation in the UK whilst boosting innovation through exploiting the link between measurement science and technology.
