How business can challenge red tape

Business is a vital partner for BIS in the fight against red tape. We need business to tell us which legislation and policies are too burdensome, too bureaucratic and too unwieldy – those which sound like a good idea but simply don’t work out in the real world.

There are many ways in which business can get involved:

  • Speak to your trade association. We are in frequent contact with major trade associations. Speak to your contacts in BIS, including your Business Relations contacts.
  • Respond to consultations on BIS policy and legislation through our web page.
  • Have your say on regulations that could be removed or simplified in the Red Tape Challenge
  • Join a sector-specific group, such as the ‘VIPER’ forum for the automotive industry or others which give business and industry a chance to discuss upcoming regulatory developments.
  • Sign-up for Business Link’s regulation updates to help you prepare for new legislative developments.
  • Join the Small Firms Consultation Database for a chance to comment on new policies with an impact on small business.
  • Monitor EU developments using the Commission's work programme.
  • Check out EU consultations on the EU 'Your Voice' Consultations Page.
